Help Bring More Jewish Stories to the Screen

What does it mean to be Jewish?

For some Americans, the answer might begin with a childhood memory, a family recipe, a holiday tradition, a photograph, or a story passed down through generations. For others, it may be something they questioned, reclaimed, redefined, or discovered later in life.

The Kid in Blue is a feature documentary exploring contemporary Jewish identity in America through intimate, personal stories. Rather than trying to define what Jewish identity is or tell one definitive story, the film brings together Americans with different backgrounds, generations, practices, and experiences to explore the many ways Jewish life can be understood and lived.

Why Now?

The film is already in motion. We’ve filmed interviews across the Bay Area and New York so far, with each conversation shaping the story, with more to come.

We’re now collecting funds to support an additional shoot in New York City in Fall 2026, and your support will help make this possible.
